music review... LEFT: this man brought me to tears in my riesling <------ eric roberson

LEFT is the title of eric roberson's latest CD, a true neo-soul music masterpiece. i can't remember the last time a CD not only bumped this hot from first track to last, but swept me through such a powerful range of emotions. eric continues the tradition of soul kings like marvin gaye and stevie wonder with funky, bass-heavy tracks that deliver plenty of d'Angelo flavor. vocally, eric roberson has the smokey magic of brian mcKnight or dwele. all of this and: eric roberson writes soul-stirring lyrics like it's nobody's business!

two brilliant songs of the many neo-soul winners i love on LEFT:
eric roberson, LEFT is a neo soul classicthe track "Pretty Girl" reached in and touched a real sweet spot way deep in my soul. it was a remarkable moment. i wish that every female on the planet could hear this song: it is healing. these are the words that every girl secretly longs to hear.
eric roberson, LEFT, deliver an emotional journey that soothes and heals
i mellowed and blushed to myself... went ahead and gave into eric roberson's whispering to my soul...
eric roberson, LEFT is a neo soul classic
by the time he reached track #13 -- "Couldn't Hear Her" -- i was absolutely mesmerized. this one's the confessions of a man who has an incomprehensibly jealous mistress: his obsession with music. the 8-minute song has the longest, most sensual guitar feature on it. (think: "voyage to atlantis" on steroids!) Powerfully Isley Brother-esque. Crowning glory to Old School. An instant Neo Soul classic.

i really got caught up in it all. it brought new understanding to a complex relationship of days gone by... ok, i got teary.
hey, eric roberson's song made me think of you. you know who you are, knotty dread
the fact that i was sipping a second glass of riesling had nothing to do with it, i'm sure! it's just that "Couldn't Hear Her" impeccably expressed the words my old boyfriend couldn't. deep, deep song if you've ever loved an elusive musician...

much love to duane at dr. wax in hyde park / chicago for the eric roberson reco! once again, duane steered me RIGHT to music bliss, suggesting that I cop eric roberson's amazing cd, LEFT.

damn. eric roberson's soulful words and infectious funky beats made love to my mind...

I agree, both of those songs on Eric's new album are very nice. He is very under-rated. Or should I say, under-exposed. Lots of talent.
